We will be discussing and possibly voting on the plans to move forward with the Building addition.

Our Building Team Made up of Ted Wolfgang, Adam Ranck, Eric DeGuise, Greg Dana,  Troy Osborn, Gale Kaufman, Rob Krause, Ted Nagel, Pastor Bill, and (recently added) Rollie Shook, Has been hard at work meeting with Contractors and discussing the best possible way to meet the needs that we have in the most economical fashion possible.

We will present the plans for Phase 1, and Possibly Phase 2, discuss the financing, and answer questions during this meeting.  WE ARE OPEN TO A VOTE AT THE END OF THIS MEETING IF THE CONGREGATION DESIRES IT so it is very important that you come and give your input.  IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, OR WOULD LIKE TO DISCUSS ANY ASPECT OF THE BUILDING please come and see Pastor Jeff or Pastor Bill and they will be happy to try and help you find answers to your questions.

This is an exciting time for our church and we want everyone who calls Floyd Church of God their home congregation to plan to attend and be involved in this Meeting.

Here’s the Scoop:

We are Planning to build an 80X120 Steel Building with 20 foot Sidewalls directly to the south of our present Building.  In order to limit the amount of debt that we incur we are going to build in 5 phases.  WE WILL BE DISCUSSING AND VOTING ON PHASE ONE, AND POSSIBLY PHASE 2 AT THIS MEETING.  The other phases will happen as we can afford them.

Here are descriptions of the various phases as we see them unfolding.  We understand that as we work with the Contractor it may be cost effective or make more sense to combine some of the phases, or change what is included in each phase.  Click on any image to make it larger, and then use the back button on your browser to return.

Phase 1 - Metal Building with factory Insulation package, foundation (not floor),

Phase 2 - Floor, Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC, Septic, Firewall Separating Fellowship Hall, Row of interior rooms finished (including bathrooms, chair room, kitchen, and stairways) Flooring, Kitchen layout planned but not purchased. Mezzanine floor installed above bathrooms, chair room, kitchen, and stairways

Phase 3 - Classrooms on east end and Kitchen finished. Mezzanine floor installed above hall and classrooms

Phase 4 - Connection to existing building constructed (wood frame construction), with alterations to existing building to make it possible.

Phase 5 - Offices in connecting piece finished.

Imagine…

…what some of our existing ministries would look like with the new building:

• Sunday School
• Imagine having Classrooms big enough to handle our adult and youth classes which are frequently overcrowded.
• Imagine being able to designate and decorate our current basement as a real “kid-friendly” environment (I’m thinking Decorations on the scope of VBS, only Year Round!)
•  Junior Church
• Imagine having a designated space for Junior Church, and other kid friendly worship experiences, that doesn’t have to be set up and torn down every time we have some other event.
• CWC Garage Sales, Soup Suppers, and Bazaar
• Imagine having enough room for people to walk comfortably between tables at these events.
• Imagine having a bigger and better equipped Kitchen to serve from.
• Imagine having seating so that people who come to shop can spend more time visiting and getting to know us, instead of Hurrying off because their seat is needed for someone else.
• Harvest Dinner
• Imagine having enough seats that we truly can invite everyone that we know, without worrying about whether there will be room for everyone.
• Imagine not having to wait in long lines, because we have enough room to serve from multiple spots.
• Imagine never having to haul food and tables to the Floyd School Ever again.
• Funeral Meals
• Imagine having a room that has adequate floor space and also “feels” roomy because the ceiling is high above
• Imagine the flexibility of having not only the fellowship hall but also several smaller rooms that could be used for smaller, more intimate Funeral meals.
• Imagine the existing building being available even during a funeral meal for other ministries such as Bible Release, or weddings, or….You get the idea!
• Showers (Wedding and Baby)
• Imagine having multiple rooms to use depending on the size of the crowd that is coming.
• Imagine being able to plan other events at the same time as a shower because we have multiple spaces available for ministry.
• Vacation Bible School
• Imagine being able to accomadate games and activities that are not appropriate for the Sanctuary, Rain or Shine, in a large open Space.
• Imagine being able to accommodate as many kids as God sends our way without having to worry about class sizes.
• Youth (and other) Luncheons
• Imagine being able to set up tables for a luncheon ahead of time, instead of having to wait until Sunday School is over
• Imagine being able to work in the kitchen to prepare meals without having to worry about “disturbing” a Sunday School Class.
• Outreach
• Imagine the convenience for our Easter Egg hunt and Trunk-r-Treat Events if we have a large open space to move into in the case of bad weather.
• Imagine not having to crowd into the basement if it’s cold or rainy, but having adequate indoor space for not only kids, but their whole families to come and enjoy themselves.

Imagine…

…for a moment just a few of the NEW ministries that we could offer our church and community:

• Imagine a Gym that people from our church and the community could use during the winter months to get their daily exercise, whether its walking, running, basketball, volleyball, bowling (it could happen:-), Kickball…the possibilities are endless.
• Imagine being able to offer our facility to the Floyd School, the Red Cross and other organizations for emergency management situations.
• Imagine our youth having space for Lock-ins and other events that would accommodate their more energetic nature, and allow them to invite other youth groups to join them, because of adequate space.
• Imagine how this could enhance and allow for much wider opportunities for the Floyd Youth ministries, which would not only immediately positively impact our current ministry activities, but also open many doors for greater outreach into our local community.
• Imagine If we had the facilities to host Michigan Student Leadership Institute, which trains young people from all over our state (including several of our youth).
• Imagine being able to reach out to our other COG Youth and other community Youth groups to host activities and events to assist in uniting our Youth with other brothers and sisters within the area.
• Imagine the ability to offer our facility to sports teams in the community for basketball practice, winter baseball drills, indoor soccer practice, and many others, and while their parents are waiting for them, we have the opportunity to make them feel welcome.
• Imagine having Shower Facilities on site for the Michigan Singers or other traveling groups that need to stay over night at the church, or for our yearly camp out on the church grounds.
• Imagine having lots of space for staging food distribution ministries, like our food give away last August.
• Imagine being able to move our offices back to the Church once the two buildings are connected in a later phase, so that our staff will be more available to serve those who need to be in the building through the week.
• Imagine having extra Space in the new building that can be finished later to accommodate future dreams and ministries.

Imagine…

…How great it would be if we could build this building DEBT FREE!

In order to make this a reality we need each and every person to Not only give financially, but to consider what other talents and abilities you may have to offer.

• If you are a contractor of any kind, and you would be willing to donate all or part of your time and expertise to this project, we would love to hear from you.
• If you have experience Coordinating projects like this and have time to give, we would love to hear from you.
• If you have equipment that could be used to help us build this building and and would be willing to donate its use, we would love to hear from you.
• If you or your company sells building materials and you would be willing to donate something to this building then we would lovet o hear from you.
• If you have time that you are willing to give, even if you don’t have lots of skills in the building trades, we will need you as well.
